Sephora Spring 2018 Sale Recap and Reviews

I love reading what other people are buying during major sales and I enjoy viewing their hauls but then I tend to never hear how those products turned out to be.  Since the Sephora sale was open to VIB/Rouge members earlier, I took advantage of it and purchased a majority of my wish list.  If you have not had a chance to read what was on my wish list, you can find it here.  If you are interested in my moods and views about the products, here they are.

The only non-beauty item I purchased was the Commodity 3 x 3 Exploration Kit.  From the moment I opened the box, I was enveloped with a rich decadent scent.  I don’t even want to light the candles because even unlit, they throw off an amazing scent.  These aren’t your average Bath and Body candles (which I love also) but the grown up version.  The fragrances included are travel sprays with a cap which make them perfect for throwing in your bag on the go.  My favorite from the bunch is Orris.  One of the things I enjoy the most about sets like this is that you get introduced to the brand and get to try multiple scents. This is my first purchase from Commodity but I am sure it is not the last.

A product that I definitely didn’t need was the Anastasia Beverly Hills collaboration with Amrezy for the Amrezy Highlighter mostly because I already own an abundance of highlighters.  The metallic sheen and creamy formula is almost wet to the touch.  Amrezy is known for her glow and this highlighter definitely did not disappoint. The fact that this is a limited edition highlighter made it more appealing to pick up on this sale before it is gone.  The thing that I really appreciate about ABH Cosmetics as a whole is that when they say a product is limited edition, it isn’t a marketing ploy.  Their collaborations with Mario Dedivanovic and Nicole Guerriero were both highly successful and no longer available.

I’ve been searching for a tinted moisturizer for the longest time and I think that I may have found the one with First Aid Beauty’s newest release, the Ultra Repair Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 30.  I color matched myself in store and I expected to be Medium but Light worked better.  For background, I am shade Y365 in Makeup Forever’s Ultra HD foundation and Latte in Huda Beauty’s #FauxFilter foundation.  The formula is hydrating which is what I expected after being a fan of their Ultra Repair Cream.  It blended easily and has been the only product in my morning routine since I got it.  The description of the tinted moisturizer holds true that it has a more natural luminous finish.  Since these are my first impressions, so far I have been really enjoying it but I need to try it for a while before I can give a detailed review.

When influencers create their own product lines, there is always a lot of hype around it.  Along with that hype though, there is a lot of skepticism as to if the product is as good as everyone claims.  Since I am a self proclaimed mask-aholic, the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask piqued my interest immediately.  First off, I want to just put it out there that I have a lot of respect for Marianna Hewitt because of her willingness to give back to the creator community with her Instagram account: Blogwithme.  The mask itself is very reminiscent of my favorite Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask.  Both masks aim at hydration and can be used overnight or as a treatment that you wipe away.  Both deliver a high dose of hydration and absorb really well.  I do like the Summer Fridays one better and that surprised me because the Origins mask has been a favorite for so long.  With Summer Fridays, I found that it sinks in like a moisturizer and I never had to follow the instructions of wiping it away.  Additionally, my skin doesn’t feel tacky at all so I have worn it as a moisturizer, under makeup and to sleep.  The price point is higher than I would prefer.  On the other side, the tube packaging keeps the product hygienic and there is a good amount of product for how much you pay.  Is it a mask that I think will transform your skin, no, but I really did enjoy it overall.

The only product I haven’t been able to give a fair shot to is the Becca Hydra-Mist Set and Refresh powder because it was just delivered a few hours ago and I wanted to try out the products a few times before I gave a recap.  On application, it is very cooling to the skin but at this time, I want to reserve my review to after I have tried it properly.

Was this recap helpful and should I do more in the future?  The turn around isn’t very long since I’ve had these products for a week but they are some of the most hyped about products currently and may have been on your list for the sale.  Please let me know in the comments if you would like to see similar reviews in the future.
